The Goody Gang
The Goody Gang are a growing group of characters designed to reflect the many different ways people experience the world around them.
Every character is unique. Some love movement, some need calm, some communicate differently, some feel deeply, and some simply see the world in their own way.
These characters are not diagnoses, categories, or stereotypes. They are individuals with personalities, preferences, strengths, worries, comforts and ways of regulating – just like real people.
We hope that somewhere within the Goody Gang, people may recognise a feeling, a comfort, a challenge, or a piece of themselves.
Meet Goody Gecko
Goody is a green gecko with a big heart and even bigger ideas.
He likes things to feel ordered and predictable, even though he’s often a little clumsy along the way. Goody is quietly funny, full of ideas that come easily to him, even if turning them into reality sometimes feels tricky without support.
He’s thoughtful with his words and takes his time to say what he means. Goody enjoys quieter environments where he can slow down, notice small details, and feel at ease. When he feels comfortable, he makes friends easily, offering warmth, humour, and kindness to those around him.
Goody is rarely seen without his purple backwards hat. It’s more than just a hat, it’s part of his routine and a familiar constant he can rely on. When things feel busy or unpredictable, wearing his hat helps Goody feel grounded, safe, and ready to face the world in his own way.
Goody reminds us that it’s okay to need familiarity, to take things at your own pace, and to have wonderful ideas even if they don’t always come together straight away.
Why We Created the Goody Gang
Too often, individuals who experience the world differently grow up without seeing themselves represented in positive, joyful, everyday spaces.
The Goody Gang was created to help people feel seen. Not through labels, but through understanding, personality, emotion, and connection.

“Finally, a character like me.”
This gentle social story follows Goody the gecko, who loves his purple hat — it’s part of who he is and helps him feel safe. When his hat goes missing, Goody sets off on a heartfelt journey that helps him discover something even greater: he is special, brave, and loved, with or without it.
Written to support understanding, emotions, and acceptance, this social story helps readers recognise feelings, explore comfort and change, and understand that everyone deserves to feel valued just as they are.
Emotional Understanding, Made Accessible
Goody’s Big Feelings is an innovative emotional-development resource that uses storytelling, illustration and Makaton together to help children understand and communicate big feelings. Designed to be practical as well as comforting, it supports children to recognise emotions, notice how they feel in the body, and express themselves in ways that work for them.
Created with inclusion at its core, the book is especially valuable for autistic children and those with additional communication needs, making it a meaningful, usable tool for families, schools and professionals—not just a story, but a resource.
Goody is just the beginning. More characters coming soon…
